So, with daughter's input, I have decided to go with replacing just the head on my '94 945T. Reason: she is planning on buying herself a new car (hybrid) within a year. So a complete rebuild of the engine doesn't make sense if it can be dealt with more economically.
So, I am going out to scrounge up a head. I've refreshed my knowledge of the 530 head by re-reading stealthfti's GREAT dissertation on the subject but I still have a few questions.
The turbo engine has lower compression than a N/A. Is this accomplished via different pistons or different combustion chamber volume? Short question is do I need a turbo-specific head or can I use any B230xx head and just install the correct turbo-specific valves & cam?
Any insight is appreciated.
