Thermostat Question 200

I have a B21 FT and replaced the thermostat from 92 degree (temp. on gauge ran 9:00 at opp. temp.). I didn't think a 92 degree was good to run in summer in the south where I live.
I replaced with 82 degree thermostat and now it's running about 8:00 at opp. temp. and when running on highway 60-70 mph very close to the bottom line. It also moves down a little at different times.
I think this may be running to cold,could the replacement thermostat be defective?
