Brake woes 444-544

My front left drum on my '57 444 is giving me a big headaches. I replaced the wheel cylinders both left and right, hoses, and the master, all w/ new units. I did this as the car was pulling hard to the right when I hit the brakes, one was weeping, the other was seized. I got all the parts in, drove the car around the block and it was fine with a little wander that I intended to fix by fine tuning the adjustment on the drums. I took it out for one more little jog around the block and upon coming to the street, I touched the brakes and the front left tire locks up. I'm not exaggerating when I say 'touch' the brakes either. It was basically about how much pressure you'd put on them when you're thinking about slowing down. I brought it back in, looked it over and it looks fine, all pieces where they should be, I even adjusted them and readjusted them to make sure all pads where where they should be. It doesn't happen in reverse. And the only little detail I could muster up was the front pad had about an 1" wide area of pitting at the top of it. Didn't look terribly serious. All brake lines are free and clear of moving parts. I'm stumped Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
