I was snooping around under the car this morning, came across a gas leak. More of a moist spot then a leak.
Between the Fuel Pump Bracket and the rear axle there are two lines (close to center of car), one is soft and the other is a larger diameter steel line. It green in color. What does that line do for a living? Is that the return from the fuel rail? There are no drips and no smell of harsh smell of gas but in a small section of this steel it must be porous. It looks like it is right at a clamp that holds it to the underbody. The undercoating is removed from this area and what’s left is very soft and gooey… it smells like gas too. Although it does go to a soft hose up by the gas tank, I’m wondering if I can cut out the ‘wet’ section and just put in a soft line without any issues.
