I'm hoping someone can resolve a mini-dispute I'm having with FCP Groton (just academic really) I sent back a rebuilt rear caliper that had that strange anvil shaped part of the casting removed (cut off). I assumed it was some sort of safety component and surmised it was something to do with the big heavy part of the rear frame that abuts it when it's intalled. FCP folks didn't know what it was, or whether it's important. Volvo is not known for adding unnecessary components, esp. safety related. Does anyone know what that part of the rear caliper is, and whether it's necessary?
cheers-
bruce.
