Hi - my 1991 240 automatic wagon (LH2.4) has an odd thing happening. During deceleration (when I lift off the throttle completely) I can feel the engine braking (fuel is cut off by the computer). The car slows down and as the RPMs drop to just below 1500 RPM (car is still moving and slowing down) the engine revs up again to about 1650 RPM, then the car continues to decelerate (but less engine braking is felt). I'm assuming that at 1500 RPM, the computer starts feeding fuel back to the engine (ie. it goes out of the deceleration fuel cut-off mode), but I would think this should be imperceptible and that the engine RPM should never INCREASE while decelerating. Any thoughts? Doesn't matter what gear I'm in, I just have to let the foot all the way off the pedal above about 2000 RPM, and not touch the throttle again, for the issue to appear. Thanks!
