This past week I revived my 86 244 for my little brother to buy. The car sat over 9 months and the battery had more corrosion at the terminals than I've seen before. Full piles of it almost an inch above the terminal. I took the battery to the local national chain and had them charge it. When I returned they said it was bad but retested it to show me. It held 9V but then would jump to 12 and then go back to 9.
I took it home and popped off the top covers to top off the water. It took a lot more water than I'd thought it would and then I crushed up two aspirin pills and distributed the dust into each of the holes. Put it in the car and it fired right up.
I've done this before and mentioned it here too but I decided to post in case someone hadn't heard of this trick before. Save your money.
