Might be letting her go.. 200 1988

A friend I used to work with called and asked if I would consider seling my Volvo. I glanced out into the back yard where the Volvo is parked, while waiting out the North Carolina summer heat, and said Yes, I'll consider it. How much do you think you'd want for it, he asks. Knowing it blew an o'ring at the air compressor, needs TAB's, needs steering rack (fluid leak), and the biggy, it needs a blower motor real soon. I said I think it's worth $800 - $1000. I figure I need to put about $1,500 into the car to get all this fixed (I have zero desire to the work on it anymore) so letting someone else take over isn't a bad idea, I thought. My history is that I bought the car new in Feb. 1988, my daughter was 8, my son was 6, and this car has been really good to me for the whole 22 years I've had it - since it's lived in NC it's whole life the body is excellent, the light blue metallic paint good - although some clearcoat is burned off the roof. So, the guy comes over the next day and takes it for a drive and comes back and says he wants it - give him a couple of days to round his money up. Well, now my daughter who is 30, married, with a son of her own, is having a fit that I may be getting rid of the car she grew up in, learned to drive on, drove while home from college, and the car she associates her dad with. I mean just a fit, calling me telling me she'll give me the money and I can't sell it. I don't need the money I tell her, I'm not really using the car because the air doesn't work, and in the winter the blower motor squeals, along with the power steering fluid leak that make the car less desirable to me right now. Now I'm thinking that if, for some reason, the guy fails to be able to come up with money I may park it until I send it off to the Indie shop for the repairs it needs and then I'll keep forever - or until my baby grandson is ready for a car of his own.
