License plate lights (aftermarket junk) 200

Since I'm angry about aftermarket crap, let me also inform the board about the license plate lights sold by all our favorite Volvo parts dealers. Apparently they are made by Scan-tech, and they are junk. Not only do they not match the Cibie-made OEM lights, but they also have a terrible design for installing the bulb and supplying power. Looks to me like the light could very easily short against the body with these terminals sticking out exposed.

Why is it that aftermarket companies will deviate so wildly from the OEM design, and then execute their own flawed design poorly?

I considered gluing my OEM lights back on, then I thought about getting some spring steel and bending new clips, and finally I decided to take a look at Tasca.

Tasca sells the OEM Volvo license plate lights for $14 each. Scan-tech crap-lights sell for over $11 each. I ordered two OEM lights.

Somebody please remind me, next time, how disappointed I always am in aftermarket trash, so I can save money and time.
