Just yesterday my 245 started idling rough, and would stumble while driving on occasion. Today the CEL came on and the car stalled for the first time while idling rough. I checked the fault codes and got:
1-1-3 - Fuel Injector problem (this is the fault causing the CEL to come on)
2-3-2 - compensation for a lean fuel/air mixture
3-2-2 - Air Mass Meter burn-out function not working
Obviously there's an issue with the AMM, but assuming it is faulty, could it be causing the other codes to come up as well?
I've read through a number of posts on fault codes 1-1-3 and 2-3-2, and in at least a couple instances the AMM was indeed the problem. I couldn't find much here on 3-2-2, perhaps because it is rather self-explanatory.
I don't have a spare AMM (yet), but I did replace the air filter. The old one was quite dirty and I don't think had been changed in at least +60k/km.
After reading through the posts here, I tried the diagnosis procedure of unplugging the AMM to see if the car ran better. Indeed it ran much better, almost idling normally, though not quite, but the shift change indicator at the dash board was blinking (manual trans.) - not sure if that's normal. Interestingly, when I plugged the AMM back in and started it up again, the car idled pretty much normally, even better than when unplugged. I haven't reset the codes yet to see if they're still coming up the same.
Should I reset the codes and drive around a while before I invest in a replacement (not spare) AMM? Could simply changing the air filter make a difference?
