Roaring, and clutch slave problems 700 1988

I have an 88 740 turbo with the following problems:
1: after a bit of driving, the car roars, preformance dosent seem impeded but Im not sure. I had a mechanic glance at the exhaust, but he said he didnt see anything wrong ( though I dont know how long/hard he looked.
2: In the last year and a half I have replaced the clutch slave cylinder 3 times, and need to do so again! Could there be a problem that is causing this unit to fail?
3. sometimes the car is not starting, I wait 15 min. and it starts, not sure if its spark or fuel.

Im not a mechanic (obviously), and would like some advice as to what to do about these issues.
