in tank fuel pump removal 200

I have a 1985 245. I'm having problems with getting gas to the engine. When I pulled the gas line from the fuel pressure regulator there was no fuel coming out when I cranked the car. So, on to the fuel pumps. Both pumps were replaced last Oct as well as the filter. By using jumpers on the fuse box I am able to hear both pumps running. (BTY, I swapped the relay out with my wife's 89' and both relays work in her car so its not the relay) I had the wife get in the car and crank it while i put a meter on each of the pumps and both were getting voltage so I assuming they are working. Tomorrow I plan on taking off the fuel line going to the fuel filter and running the pumps to see if the fuel filter could be at fault (less than a yr old also)- I'm guessing it is not the problem because I have never seen a fuel filter clog so completely. I mean, there is not even a hint of gas up at the engine. Assuming no fuel coming out of the line before the filter this is my question - Getting the in-tank pump out. There are two lines going into the tank. One is held on with a standard hose clamp, the other seems to be crimped on. Its a hard plastic line with what appears to be a foam jacket. How is that line removed? Also, what in the fuel tank pump would cause it to not pump gas even thou I can hear the pump running? There is at least 4 gal's in the tank. Is there a pickup tube of some type that can fall off? Does anyone know where I could find an exploded view of the in-tank fuel pump assembly?
Thanks for any help..
