If I'd unnecessarily removed and replaced my perfectly good starter, that is. I came within a hair, too. This post is part confessional and part relief that I finally have my sedan back on the road.

After about 2 days of running tests, searching Brickboard and my Bentley for answers and getting theories and wiring diagrams from Art B., here's what it was.

I was underneath the car, spraying the starter bolts w/ PB Blaster when I happened to look at the solenoid from underneath, and there, BELOW the rubber boot covering terminal 30 was a spade terminal that I didn't know existed. I guess that's No. 16 or 18 in the Bentley which is shown ABOVE terminal 30 in their book.

Just for kicks, I pulled the yellow and blue wire off terminal 50 and put it on the one playing hide-and-seek, turned the key and she started right up. The apparent cause of the initial no start was the B/Y wire coming loose from it's proper spot and my reattaching at the only place I saw to put it.

I did learn a few things during my quest; I know the starting system wiring of the 240 pretty well, my old neutral safety switch is now polished and clean and I can pull an ignition switch with ease next time the need arises.
