Rumble between 25 mph and 30 mph, only under load. Diagnosis? 200

Hey,

My 240 has developed a rumble between 25 and 30 mph. It only exhibits it when under load, accelerating. At all other times the car is quiet and silky. If I coast from above 30 to below 25 it never makes a peep.

I had to replace the motor mounts 2 weeks ago; they were completely gone (my college age son, a sweet kid but a mechanical doofus, was driving the car all summer... who knows how long it was like that?) it had the rumble before, it got better after the mount replacement, but it's still there.

1992 240 wagon, automatic.

Center bearing? Rear end? Fixable by shade tree mechanic, or is this one for a pro with a lift?

Thanks

Thaddeus
