Anyone put a T5 into a car that already had an M47? Wondering specifically about the newer kits (like the one from Avalanche)that allegedly make it almost a straight bolt on ... the site references a m46 bellhousing, will the m47 work? Is it just the tranny mount and d-shaft that requires modification then?
It's and 89 5-speed 240 wagon
Thanks!
Background:
I just recently got back into the volvo game when I saw a mint 89 5-speed wagon with only 145,000kms on it, meticulously maintained, and religiously dealer serviced and couldn't not buy it (even though I wasn't looking to buy a car). But, despite the maintenance history and low k's, it's grinding when I downshift to 3rd...and I think sometimes even second. Sooooo...I'm currently looking into rebuild/replacement options, and this T5 swap sounds intriguing but I haven't been able to find these answers in my searches. Not concerned about performance, this is my every-day driver and I otherwise just want to keep it mint and stock (my other vehicle is a landrover body on a toyota chassis with a chevy engine...that keeps me busy enough, need this one for driving to the parts store)
