I wanted, like a lot of bricksters, to find a solution to the cracked black matte-vinyl strips on the doors right outside the window glass. I tried the heatgun/spatula method, then I used an eraser wheel and did remove them only to expose a different shade of gray paint. FINALLY, I found a man who does hand-painted pin stripes for our new cars. He traced the original area where the strps had been, ordered some special vinyl material and used the traces to make brand-new matte-vinyl strips and is coming ove to my garage Friday night to install it on my car. I am so excited. My custome grille, made from the original "frame, painted black and filled with epoxy, and a steel mesh normally used to keep kids/dogs from crashing trough screen doors, first sprayed witha bonding agent then clearcoated to prevent rust. I sut the vertical billets out with my Dremel leaving the two end ones for strngth and possibly housing amber marker lights later on. It is almost ready to drive again.
