My youngest daughter and her friend, who know nothing about cars, are in the San Francisco/Salinas area. They have just gotten there from here on the east coast and are looking for a car. They really wanted a used Toyota Land Cruiser but have had zero luck finding one. Their interim choice would be a really good and unblemished 240, 740, 940 wagon. Those that are advertised are selling for around 3 to 3.5 thousand with around 200,000 +- miles.

Is such high mileage an issue normally? Does that price range seem about right?

I would like it if someone out there either knows of a car that's available, a good place to look or at least a place that they could bring a candidate to where there are knowledgeable, friendly and honest service people. They could do some traveling if required to get to a good deal.

Further any general information that would be useful to have in the process of buying/owning a car in California would also be appreciated.
