black box? 200 1983

k, gotta 83 volvo 245

was replacing the window wiper motor and upon removing the cloth underdash cover a mysterious black box dropped out... it was disconnected already. i can see where it connects but i have no idea what this thing is...
only descriptors are this:

has 3 points where you can use a screwdriver to adjust it.
they are labeled
A. "low speed sw. adj."
B. "centering adj."
C. "sensitivity adj."

also on top cover "dana corp. Toledo, OH"

help?
googled it with no results and looked on fcpgroton, couldn't find it...
