Hello folks,
This is a re-post of a question posted yesterday in the "ALL" category where I received no responses. Hey, I'm desperate!
My left rear door (herein called "the bad one") will not open either from the inside or the outside.
I took the door trim off the right door (herein called "the good one") to get a look at how the mechanism is supposed to function. Wow! What a hassle getting my eyeball through those little access holes!
Anyway, I managed to remove the door trim on the bad one. There is a white bellows-like object sitting atop the lock actuator that is pulled up by a key attached to a rod coming from the door lock plunger. On the good side, this moves the bellows up and down. On the bad side it doesn't. On the good side, this key is nice and tight. It's loose on the bad side, so I'm figuring something broke or fell off.
I can pull the bellows on the bad side up, but nothing happens. I can also manually activate the outside lock release (the door handle) by pushing up on it from inside the door, but again, nothing happens. Same with the interior door release.
Oh, and I've tried pushing and pulling the door while holding the interior and exterior door releases, both individually and at the same time. Still, the door won't open.
What am I missing?
Thanks so much!
Roger (in the back seat)
