Weird squealing/shrieking noise - brake related? 900 1993

OK, me and my 945 NA have been thru a lot in the last 6 months, currently after driving it a bit, say 10 - 15 minutes around town, it will starting squealing/shrieking/whistling. The most noteworthy thing I've noticed is that the noise stops immediately when I apply the brakes, doesn't matter if it's a soft or hard stab at the pedal. Noise ceases when using brakes, I'm thinking a pad might be hanging up or a caliper is sticking. Anyone been here before I tear the whole thing apart? Thanks. Mike
