(re) introduction and some problems 200 1982

Hi all.

First of all, sorry for the long introduction and help request.

I just bought an euro '82 245 GL D6 Diesel (actually, a sum of parts of different Volvos, but more on that later) with 406k kms on the clocks.
I had had a S70 a few years back, but family growth obliged to buy a mini van. Before that, my father had a 245, so I was bitten by the bug again :)

This 245 in particular has had a very rough life: it was a RHD UK car, converted to LHD, engine replaced once, BW55 auto trans replaced for a M46, and later for another M46, added air con (with wrong gas), front electric windows, headlights wipers, etc... also a few body panels have been replaced during it's life. I've got a huge list of parts to replace / repair / ..., but there is a short list! :)

The very bad bits / doubts ...
(1) The timing belt looks bad. Should I also replace the water pump at the same time?

(2) I need to replace the propshaft center bearing support rubber; is it normal for the front half of the propshaft be 1 3/4" and the rear 2"? OR should both halves have the same diameter?

(3) The previous owner - who seems to be the one that installed the A/C - told me that it was installed and recharged with R134a, but had a slight leak (!). The A/C was removed from another 245, and was probably on R12. As you can see on the pics, there is a grey paste on the A/C pipes in the passenger footwell, and over some other bits that I can't identify. Which bits are these? Is it a result of mixing both gases? What should I replace to make the whole system functional?

(4) What is the white round plastic canister (like a bottle) behind the radio, and the other white container above that?

(5) I got some rust near the back window molding; is it an easy repair?

(6) I almost have a rust hole under the driver's footwell, actually under the fuse box, near the jack supporting member. What is the best way to repair?

(7) Optional clocks: none is working, one even isn't suppose to work on a diesel (manifold vacuum). Is there a place with the schematics to wire'em up?

(8) Is this the right console for an '82? or should it the one with the integrated seatbelt's buckles

Thanks for all
(and sorry for the loooong post)
