I've been chasing down a vibration issue and am stumped. It occured after a 'Volvo Shop', replaced the rear end. I have
-balanced driveshaft, incl new center support brg and u joints
-replaced motor mounts and transmission mounts
-disconnected all belts and checked vibration still there, car at idle
-replaced timing belt tensioner
-replaced all vacuum lines, routed them properly
-replaced distributor
-replaced plugs. Wires were good. Cap and rotor good.
-replaced exhaust system incl new down pipe, and cat back sport exhaust system
from IPD New hangers, rubber mounts
Originally, you could feel the problem at idle with the car standing still at idle. After all this, it's pretty much gone under 35mph but you can feel it at highway speeds. I even disconnected the driveshaft and could still feel it at idle. I've put a jack under various points to see if slight pressure changed anything and nothing happened. Am I down to dropping the tranny and refacing and balancing the flywheel? I was told by a Volvo mechanic that the flywheel and crankshaft were balanced at the factory before installing at the factory. The 'Volvo Shop' tampered with the vacuum hoses, exhaust system, pinion angle, but we straightened all that out. Any ideas before I start dropping transmissions?
Thanks
Jim
