Valve train clatter 900 1996

Hi All,

I have a 1996 940 light pressure turbo model auto. The car runs very well except for some valve train noise. To get rid of the noise, I have:

1) Adjusted shims - Much quieter but noise is still there especially on idle.
2) Change the rubber hushers - 90% of noise gone, but occasionally it comes back, then goes off. No noise on idle. No change in engine performance when noise comes and goes.

Also replaced exhaust gaskets to rule out gas leakes, and cam shaft is within specs, with new bearings, timing belts and pulley.

Could it be bad valve spring? or worn valve stems?

Thanks guys.
