Hello Everyone! I have been having trouble with my old 35 amp alternator/regulator in my 145 so I decided to upgrade to a rebuilt 55 amp unit that I was able to find over at Napa (see link below). They also sent me home with a new regulator that was supposed to match the alternator. The problem is, the new alternator has absolutely no markings on the back indicating how to wire the darn thing. I took a stab at wiring it and it does appear to be charging the battery with a nice 14 volts but the regulator has started smoking! I was wondering if everyone could take a look at my pictures below to make sure I got everything wired up correctly. Note that the alternator and regulator do match the pics on the NAPA website below, if that helps at all.

In my pictures, the green wire is connected to the "FLD" terminal on the regulator and the thin red wire is connected to the "IGN" terminal of the regulator. On the alternator, the battery cables are connected to what I assume is the B+ terminal in the red area. The green "FLD" wire is connected to a terminal on the plastic region. Finally, the red "IGN" wire is connected to an unlabeled stud along with the red wire coming from the AMP light (which is connected to ignition power on the other end). I double checked that this stud is NOT shorted to the casing before wiring :)

After all that, can anyone confirm or deny that I have the alternator wired correctly? I tried to match my old alternator wiring but those terminals were labeled, which helped me match the wiring to Haynes manual diagram. Do I possibly have a bad or incorrect regulator?
