If I do this, will I be a famous Darwin Award winner? 200 1982

While struggling with my recent and highly flogged fuel system problem, I fantasized about how nice it would be if I could somehow make some "quick release" fuel lines...the ones that attach to the fuel sending unit come prominently to mind. I formulated an image in my head of some high-pressure air-hose connectors attached to some high quality fuel hose. I figured that since the connectors are able to withstand the high air pressures of a compressor, I figure they could probably withstand the liquid pressure of a fuel delivery system. I could be wrong, but anything is possible when you don't know what the heck you're talking about. I ruminated about this for several hours, and it still seems good to me. There are others here who know more about whether or not this would work. I really would like to be able to reach down into the opening to the fuel sending unit, and just push the release ring forward, and have the fuel line connector just "pop" off...and then when the lines need to be re-attached, just pressing the one half of the connector into the other half and hearing the satisfying "click" sound of a solidly locked connection would be sweet. I don't know if it would work, but it sounds plausible to me. Anyone care to contribute to my Darwin Award?
