poor mileage 700 1986

1986 740 GLE non-turbo automatic tranny gets 14-16 mpg city and/or highway. 205k miles. Car was inside storage for 2 years and started every 2 weeks until 2 months ago. Passed CA smog 2 months ago. Drove 3k miles since then. Tire pressure okay. Engine idles okay, normal timing. My 240s got 26ish mpg. Is this mileage normal? If not, what is the cause?
