banjo fitting leak at fuel canister under auto next to in line fuel filter 200 1993

I see by my google inquirey, I'm not the lone ranger in this issue, It began with
a new fuel filter from NAPA, new copper crush washers one each side The discharge side is no leak, intake side began with a VERY TINY pin hole size leak I TRIED REALLY CRANKING DOWN THE BOLT, this only succeeded in making matters worse. It is now seriously leaking. BTW I installed a new fuel line between inline pump & filter, thus a new banjo the old one was gauled badly but some how didn't leak.
Let's recap here:
new banjo,
new fuel filter
new copper washers
tightened the bolt going through banjo to the point I thought I might break it
I was thinking about a Louie Laamour book I'd read in the past regarding the torture you'd like to perpetuate on the Swed designer of the banjo fuel line.
He obviously never had to use his design or I'm really more ignorant that my wife is beginning to think now. Help, thoughts Ideas??????????? thx, Bill
