I made a quick pass through at the pick and pull this week.
There was a 1993 940 wagon with gray interior and the panels in the cargo area were PERFECT. Evidently they had been protected by a cargo tray as evidenced by the grid pattern it imparted on the carpet. Unfortunately it was gone but the panels went home with me.
In making the swap to my 1992 745 I found they were different than what I had just purchased. Evidently besides the change in the rear seat headrests Volvo changed the configuration of the backs of the rear seats as well.
The change results in the hinged/spring loaded drop down panels being a different size. The 1992 panel were about 11" tall and the 1993 were 9". Swapping the 1993 into the 1992 left a 2" gap and the panel is not supported underneath.
This is not a problem when the seats are up of course. It is not something that I can't live with and accommadate if any cargo comes to bear on the gap when the seats are down, but I thought would throw it out there.
I thought about swapping the correct segments to the new panels but rather than the hinges being screwed on they are riveted. Also the carpet is one piece over the entire panel and cutting it to make the change might leave an unsightly seam with future fraying.
