Spark Plug Brand and Replacement 700 1986

I checked FAQs and they didn't discuss these issues. In my notes, I have that NGK non-platinum are okay, but I don't know the source of that info. For a 1986 740 GLE B230F engine non-turbo with 205k miles, what are good brands of spark plugs? Also, how frequently do I need to check the gap and change the plugs? Thanks, everyone!!!!!!
