I have a friend who has an 84 240DL, I love the guy but his car doesn't.
I replaced a timing belt, and needed ignition parts, wires and vacuum hoses. The car just purred.
He called me about six weeks later and the car was having what sounded like fuel problems. So I replaced the main pump, and all was well for about a month, then similar problems.
So I replaced the hose in the in tank assy.
two months later, car won't charge and is over heating???
So I had it towed here. Turns out he had a spun Harmonic balancer. It's been going on three months now and I'm waiting. But so far so good.
