hi all. this is a follow up to a post i made earlier:
not sure why, but the 780 is consuming oil.
there is a little bit of oil creeping through the filler cap after driving longish distances, even though the crankcase vent system is brand new/cleaned. i also noticed that there is oil on the metal pipe coming out of the intercooler. there is no oil on the outside of the little hose connecting the pipe, nor on the hose to the throttle body. i've pulled all those hoses recently and cleaned the insides.
i cleaned the IAC valve, the hose leading to it, and the hose from it to the intake manifold. in doing so, i noticed that the hose to the intake was wrapped in black tape. it is going to be replaced (special order item).
other things i will be replacing are the knock sensor, thermostat, and the little hose from the turbo to the intake hose.
some symptoms: sometimes the car will stall when i first start it, usually can be avoided by giving it some gas.
sometimes it will stall when i put it into gear, usually not more than once but if it does, i'll give it some gas and it's fine.
when i accelerate quickly, at above 40mph (to get up hills, to increase speed entering highway etc) the cabin will momentarily smell like oil.
that's about it. any insight would be great.
