Broken Rear Seat Release Lever 700 1989

On my 1989 740 GL wagon the left rear seat release lever broke when I tried to lower the back of the seat this morning. How do I replace it? Don't know how to gain access to the release lever internals to see how the lever is attached. Any information would be appreciated.
