Falling Idle Syndrome - Need Help 200 1987

Sunday morning was below freezing. When I started my '87 240 it idled rough so I gave it a little gas and it began to run smooth again but slowly. Unfortunately it now idles extremely low in the mornings when it's cold. I don't have a tach on the car, but it is well below 1000 RPM. I still runs smooth but I'm afraid it could stall (although it hasn't yet). Once it warms up the idle is back to normal. I could just turn up the idle with a screwdriver, but then the hot idle would be so fast that it will clunk the u-joints, be hard to slow down and waste a ton of gas. Any idea what to do. Could disconnecting the battery reset the computer's cold idle setting? I checked for vacuum leaks and so far no leaks. I also checked for anything unplugged but everything looks OK. Is there an adjustment for the cold idle anywhere. How about a bad temp sensor? Any ideas?
B.K.
