I would like to remove the original roof rack on a 1992 745.

What is the procedure for removing the fastening components that fit in the holes in the roof?

In IPD's ad for the plugs to fill the holes it indicates that the plugs can be removed and the threaded inserts reinstalled to put the rack back on. Anyone have experience with doing that?

Any alternatives to the plugs from IPD?
