in tank fuel pump and sender replacement 92 240 wagon 200 1992

hi volvo sages-need advice from one who has replaced tank fuel pump. vehicle is a 92 240 wagon 5speed with 3d seat under rear deck. external fuel pump works and is running car. tank fuel pump and sending unit do not work. want to replace. thinking of buying ac delco pump from rock auto. and sender if they have it. question is haynes manual is not very clear on this r and r. appears floor deck panel and 3d seat have to be removed to get to fuel pump cover panel under carpet and deck and then unscrew/unlock retainer ring holding pump and attached sender in top of gas tank. am i right and complete? please advise and let me know of short cuts/ tricks/ warnings. also whether i am missing a step. thanks tons oldduke
