ostensible rear main oil leak '94 960 4 cylinder non turbo 900 1994

I'm looking at the subject line car to purchase, owner tells me her shade tree mechanic stated rear main seal leaking. THERE ARE SO MANY HOSES & wires in this limited space, I can't really see what is going on there. But wonder, It seems the cam cover could be the source of oil leak. Only 147,000 miles So I was looking for my choices:
1) ignore the leak as oil is cheap, let it leak. just check level extra times.
Are these the one piece seal surrounding the rear of crank shaft?
2) Remove engine and fix the proper way(lot of work for a non life threatening oil leak.
ANY BRIGHT IDEAS FROM THE COLLECTIVE MASSIVE VOLVO BRAIN POWER HERE?
THX, bILL
