Good Day Folks;
Once again I have to ask for help and pick your collective brains for help with my daughter’s ’92 740 Regina wagon. It will not start. The fuel pump runs when you turn the key, there is fuel pressure in the fuel rail and spark at the plugs but it will only fire in that last second when I release the key. The cam is timed properly and the firing order is okay. So far I have tried all kinds of diagnosis and have changed just about everything I can think of that might affect the problem. I pulled the diagnostic codes and they did not offer any useful information. The plugs where wet with fuel when I last checked them. I ran the diagnostic ‘click check’ and all the underhood relays and the injectors click when and as required. I have also cleaned all the grounds that I can find, under the hood and the one by the ECU at the RH kick panel.
The list is as follows: Plugs, cap, rotor, wires, ignition coil, the ignition coil module, the fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump relay, fuel and air filters, crank sensor, throttle position switch, I tried another ECU and have checked all the fuses. One of the diagnostic charts shows a second ECU but I cannot find it. Does anybody have any input there? Is there a second ECU on the Regina cars? I am at my wits end and if I had not sunk so much time and money in it, it would be off to the scrap yard. It is a North Carolina car and has a pretty clean body, too nice to scrap.
