The under dash hat/glove shelf vinyl split and is no longer attached to the rear metal bar. Seems that water leaks over the years, along with summer heat, destroyed the vinyl. Can this be 'repaired'? The part that loops over the rear metal bar is what split, not the stitching.

If I bring this to an upholstery place, do you think they can restich a new/better cover? Currently, anything I put on the shelf will slide forward and fall to the floor.

Looking for ideas,
