Noticed today, when spring cleaning my rocker panels, that my 1989 245 is running a -951 ECU. I have the ticket from ca 1992-1993 when the original ECU was replaced by the dealer under warranty, and assume this ECU has been in the car since then.
Under the hood, I still have the original early LH 2.4 fuel rail and cold start valve. IIRC, Volvo did away with the cold start valve across the board in 1993, which was the one year for the -951, so the ECU I'm running has never sent a signal to that valve b/c it doesn't expect it to be there.
Should I look for a later-style fuel rail and intake manifold in the junkyard to replace the originals? Seems like having a fuel injector which is under pressure but is never used is an invitation to leakage and rich running.
thoughts?
