Worm Gear Swap? 120-130

Well guys, after fitting the b21f+t and the t5 tranny to the 66 wagon, i'm out of room for pedals,

now, this isn't a terrible thing, i'll just move the whole box over and make some room for a b230 manifold.

However, i'd like to take this time to put some geometry in the column to make it less likely to impale me if i were to wad it up (Heaven forbid)

So, since it seems to have a 64 spline .835" shaft, there's really nothing that will fit off the shelf.

That being said, to weld a slug on the inside, turn it down to 0.75" and mill some flats in it to make it a 0.75" DD connection which can be pinned/set screwed, would seem to be the obvious choice.

Now, here's the question, i've got a 122 Parts car, with a good steering box.

Can i "Borrow" the worm gear from this car and easily swap it into the other box after performing these mods? the reason being is i've still gotta steer/push around the current project car.

that and find some room to fit the driveshaft for the 8.8" rear end.

Picture: a quick shot of the loosely partly assembled car.
