water on intake side of motor 200

I own a 84 245 that i recently installed a water pump. The problem is when i started adding water to test for leaks i noticed that water was coming out of one the core holes in the block of the engine. I tapped that back into place and started adding water again when water started coming out of the driver-side of the engine near the rear. I can't for the life of me figure out where this water is coming from, what is on that side dealing with water that can bust like that?
