Where did the brake fluid go? 200 1988

Here's a couple of brake issues...don't know if they're related:

I've been noticing a "hissing" sound when I release the brakes. That is, when I remove my foot from the brake pedal, or just let up on the brake pedal. I'm assuming this has something to do with the brake booster, which to my knowledge has never been replaced...at least not in the 10 years I've had the car.

In the last few days the brakes have gotten to the point that I had to put the pedal to the floor to get any braking power. Opened the hood and guess what? No brake fluid in the reservoir. But where did it go? I am not seeing any puddles of brake fluid on the garage floor. Inspection of the calipers, master cylinder and junction block don't reveal anything. I check the fluids on this car pretty often (oil, coolant, power steering) and this is the first time in 10 years that I've had the brake fluid reservoir show empty. So what happened to the brake fluid??

BTW, new calipers, rotors, pads, and master cylinder just over a year ago.
