Seek info on 122 Light Switch (6V system) which has a integral thermal sensing element. 120-130

Excerpt from 120 manual (which one ??):

Things which I would like to know:

What is reason for this thermal element...I understand it was self-reseting...generally speaking an overheating lightswitch suggests an overcurrent, or inadequate contacts (IOW too high a series resistance resulting in excessive I2R loss) for the current flowing...was there something special going on in the 6V electrical system???

Could someone shed some light...no pun intended...I'm assisting an owner of a 6V 122 and this had me stumped.

TIA!
