Not all LEDs are created equal 200 1982

Hello fellow Swedish-Steam-rollers

Not long ago, I contributed to a thread concerning the installation and use of LED bulbs as replacements for the regular Ba15s bulbs - Front position lights, front and rear turn signal lights, the tail lights, stop lights, and back-up lights. I mentioned that I opted to use LEDs over the regular bulbs because I had purchased aftermarket replacement tail lenses, and that the the regular bulbs created enough heat to warp the plastic of the cheap-er aftermarket lenses. Unknown to me at the time I purchased the LED bulbs, was a fact that I now wish to share with everyone who is considering doing the same thing. I didn't realize it until recently that the particular bulbs I ordered were specifically designed to avoid setting off the bulb-out warning. As I recall, the discussions were that most LEDs would set off the bulb-out warning. I didn't have that problem, and said so on the threads. What I didn't realize, at the time, was that the bulbs I had purchased were designed to NOT set off the bulb-out warning. So I now wish to make an addendum to all my previous posts concerning LEDs by letting everyone know where I got specialty LEDs. Just wanted to clear it up - once I realized that they were "special" LEDs that I used. As a side-bar, I'd also like to mention that since the LEDs generate virtually no heat whatsoever, I was able to use chrome paint on the plastic reflector dishes for the lights, and thereby cause the LEDs to reflect much more brightly without fear of melting - and whatnot. Be advised, tho, since they generate no heat, snow will not melt off your tail lights - like before. Just wanted to let everyone know what worked for me.
