p1800s side view mirrors 1800 1969

My side view mirrors are being stubborn. I just got the baby car running and the side view mirrors are refusing to stick in a position that is helpful. When they are pulled into position, they spring back to where they were, overextended almost. Is there a fix for this or do I need to replace them?
