This has been an ongoing issue with my wife's -93 960 Wagon and I am getting to the end of the line....
The car runs fine for a few thousand miles and then starts to stall and die on some trips or run really rough. This typically happens when my wife drives it and then it starts up fine when I try to duplicate problem.
Check engine light comes on most of the times when this occurs and mostly it throws codes 1-1-3 and 1-1-5 = Injector Groups 1 and 2 acc to manual.
I think once a long time ago it showed 2-1-2 I think it was (O2 sensor) but that never came back without any replacement of O2.
I have replaced Fuel Pump Relay twice, Fuel filter and checked in tank Fuel pump - it runs and I also lifted it up from the tank, but could not quite get it out due to tight space and warnings in the manual not to have it out of tank for long since opening in tank could tighten - making it very hard to re-install it.
I could see no problems with the in-tank pump and the rubber hose seemed intact.
I am guessing, maybe dirt inside of tank that occasionally blocks fuel flow?
I can not find any drainage plug at the bottom of it, is there?
Removing it seems quite a big job, with removing drive shaft etc....
Any other ideas?????
Would fuel inj cleaner fluid have any effect on dirt in tank? I just poured one in, can't hurt I guess....
My codes above would trigger with poor fuel flow right? Or could it be purely electrical connection to injectors? I have not found any wiring issues though...
At the end of the road, almost given up on this car, which is to ba since it's solid other wise with only 125K miles on it...
Any ideas please!
Thanks
