240 manual reverse safety linkage 200 1989

My son broke the linkage that connects the ring on the shifter to the lock-out switch on the transmission. It appears to be a plastic piece that runs vertically down the shifter tube. Is this part easily replaced from the inside of the car, or will this require additional tear down?
