what is best o ring to use on the in tank sending unit/fuel pump 200

hi sages- have the 3d seat/floor out and the dead sender and pump out of the 92 240 wag. recd all 3 new parts, pump, sender assembly, and fuel strainer bag. read articles here on pump jobs. question 1- rounded o ring was on the sender plate and looks good. bought another one anyway from volvo- looks the same . seems very hard to turn the lock ring which compresses the sender plate and o ring onto the tank hole. have a bung nut tool.recall i saw an article here but cant find it which said the o ring was flat and much easier to compress back on. what should i do? question 2- is it acceptable to use fuel injection or fuel line hose instead to connect the outflow of the fuel pump to the pipe on the sender unit? only a short piece is neeed. submersible fuel hose from gates is $30 a foot and $17 from volvo for just the little flex hose. seems like a rip. what say you? think art ben spoke to this issue but cant find it. thanks again oldduke ps- figure with this forum, art ben and the bentley book all fubars will be avoided.
