My 91 brick was destroyed in a car accident two years ago, saving my daughter from serious injury. After alot of hunting around, I have a line on an 81 Brick with 132K apparantly real miles on it. Has some some rust issues but I haven't looked at them closely yet. Besides that, what are the other big issues to look for in this car? I've heard of the wiring harness issues. Should I replace from the outset? What else should I look for? I thought my 91 was my last hurrah with Volvos. I even gave away all my Volvo books and the info that I printed up from this site. But I've had my eye on this car for awhile, and the owner said yes, so... I can't help myself. This is a great car, a stick, which I've always wanted, with an overdrive button on the shifter which apparantly works. I only cranked the car. I'll drive it this weekend. The car whines when the gas tank is half full. I am starting from scratch with the 81, because I know nothing about it. I'm getting the car cheap, $300.
