To start off: 1983 245 w/ B23F
So I replaced my head gasket and decided to play around with my timing.
I know that our Volvos are 12 degrees advanced from TDC on the compression stroke. So I have been playing around with the timing and want to know what is the best way to set it.
What I have been doing is moving the crankshaft so that it is at 12 degrees advanced(the mark on the pulley is at 12 degrees on the timing cover). While the camshaft marks and intermediate shafts are lined up. So basically I have been moving the crank to change timing.
I just realized that it make be better to move the distributor to adjust timing. So do I align the crank and cams first using the string method then get the intermediate shaft as close as I can get it, then adjust with the distributor.
Is this the best way?
